Today I took the kids for their first surfing lesson at Cisco beach with the Nantucket Island Surf School. As I walked up to the trailer (the office) in the parking lot at the beach, I saw twenty-something surfers hard at work applying multi colors of Zinc to kids, which completely took me back to childhood, fitting wet suits and grabbing surf boards. For a split second I thought, “Wouldn’t that be great to go back in time and do that for a summer?” Reality check. No. I wouldn’t want to rewind one day.
Anyway, Hayden and Pemberley loved their time surfing. The waves were interesting in that they sort of stopped abruptly. The beach seemed filled with locals. No sign of a vendor anywhere. I beamed with pride watching them out there. I always thought it would be cool to have kids who surfed. I’ve dreamed of one day going on a family surfing vacation. Or shall I say a family surf school. I don’t mean to make myself out to be some big surfer, because I’ve only been a handful of times. I’m a wannabe. I admit it!!!
